Job advert description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Subscriptions Product Owner to join our Enterprise Operations team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Job purpose
IOP Publishing is embarking on an exciting journey to transform its subscription sales systems and processes with a goal to deliver robust and future proofed solutions that can lead the business into the next phase of its dynamic development.
A multi-million pound investment over several years will see us transform our front and back office CRM, opportunity management, subscription order, electronic access and billing systems – replacing our current complex architecture with a flexible solution on the Salesforce platform.
We are looking for a talented dynamic product owner/manager to help lead us on this journey as Subscriptions Product Owner. Working collaboratively as part of a wider enterprise wide programme they will be responsible for defining the vision, and facilitating the implementation, of customer focussed, effective processes covering the order to cash half of the overall lead to cash journey.
This will include responsibility for systems delivering product creation, pricing, order management, customer account management, licensing and billing.
Once the initial deliveries of the programme are achieved the Product Owner will own and champion a roadmap of continuous improvement and innovation, working closely with development teams and business colleagues to ensure the ongoing enhancement of our capability to service evolving customer needs.
The role will be an important voice in the wider Product Manager/Owner community within IOPP. Product Owners at IOPP play a key role in setting the agenda for change and improvement in their product areas.
The Product Owner’s sole focus is on managing and developing their product area. They represent the voice of the customer within IOPP and are responsible for ensuring the final product delivers customer value balanced against stakeholder requirements and budget.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to take on a crucial role which places them at the heart of IOPP’s transformational journey and become a key contributor to the continued success of our thriving business.
The role is Bristol-based with flexible home working options.
About you
The role would suit an experienced product owner/manager comfortable working closely both with business areas and development teams as part of a wider programme of transformation.
Ideally bringing considerable experience on the Salesforce platform, a knowledge of the publishing industry, or a different industry operating on a subscription model would be a distinct advantage.
You will need the capability to engage effectively with stakeholders both internally and externally to build a strategic perspective and the confidence and gravitas to operate at the highest level in the organisation, while also being able to rally the troops when development and change delivery is required.
Knowledge and previous experience
Desirable skills and experience include:
- Experience as an Agile Product Owner or other relevant role in the Salesforce environment.
- Demonstrable understanding of customers and their requirements in the Publishing (ideally STM) industry.
- Demonstrable data-driven approach to decision making, utilising validated customer feedback and insights as well as business metrics to make decisions.
- Business Analysis skills, including mapping process workflows, system diagrams, system and process visualisations.
- Experience of Agile working methods and continuous improvement and ideally Lean methodology.
About the benefits
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer employees a comprehensive benefits package including an excellent pension scheme, discretionary annual bonus scheme, private medical insurance, life assurance and generous annual leave, and a range of flexible benefits including cycle to work and gym membership.
The role is Bristol based with flexible home-working options.
Our modern and contemporary offices are based in the thriving city centre of Bristol, a stone’s throw away from Temple Meads train station, and within walking distance of Cabot Circus shopping centre, and numerous cafés and restaurants. Named on more than one occasion as the best city in the UK to live in, Bristol is a cosmopolitan and creative city boasting a historic harbour, internationally renowned cultural institutions and home to world-class festivals and events.
