Job purpose

The Production Assistant is responsible for managing tasks and activities that support the publication of products in a timely and efficient manner. They contribute to maintaining publications to schedule and to agreed quality standards and support the production team by undertaking tasks such as quality checks, correction and publication as required, working on one or more products across different workflows.

The role is accountable for ensuring they complete production tasks to the standards required by the department and by doing so support the provision of excellent service to our authors and partners. They are also expected to contribute to the development of product quality, customer service and continuous improvement of processes within the department.

Key job accountabilities include

  • Data quality checks on a high volume of published articles and web pages.
  • Timely response to customer requests for new pages and edits to existing pages, following standard processes.
  • Ongoing checks of pages to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Contribution to other data quality assurance work as required.

About you

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Degree-level education preferable.
  • Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Awareness of editorial skills and an aptitude for dealing with language and style.
  • Good computer skills and numeracy.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills; ability to plan and balance priorities.
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail.
  • Able to work on own initiative, and flexibly as part of a team.
  • Good technical skills; includes an aptitude for HTML, XML, digital file management and online publication.
  • Professional attitude and diligent approach.
