Customer Support and Services Graduate Engineer

Customer Support and Services (CSS) is the MBDA customer focused and customer facing organisation working with the RAF/Army/Royal Navy ensuring our products are ready for action when required. CSS Supportability engineers are part of the development project teams ensuring the ability to maintain our products is considered throughout the design process and the user is equipped with training, manuals and support equipment to enable them to do their job. CSS support engineers work with our customers to take that work forward into the in service phase ensuring the weapon systems we supply are available when required by providing technical support and assistance including deploying field support engineers to deliver expertise where needed.

What’s the opportunity?

The diverse nature of CSS means that there is the opportunity to work in very different roles and gain a broad understanding of the company, its products and our customers. From designing and developing the support solution, using system expertise to investigate and resolve customer raised problem reports, delivering specific engineering tasks, running equipment workshops with RAF/Army/Royal Navy users, developing technical publications and training through to assisting in repairs whether on-ship, at customer premises or back at MBDA, there are plenty of chances to get out of the office and hands-on with equipment!

On the graduate scheme, you will have four six-month placements. Three of these placements will be in different areas of CSS; namely supportability engineering where you will work in a development team on a new product, support engineering where you will work on a product currently in-Service with a customer and support services where you will work with the field support and training/technical publications/supply teams. The final placement can be in a department external to CSS, e.g. in another engineering discipline or commercial role, or even external to MBDA, e.g. a secondment to the Ministry of Defence, a sub-contractor or even a defence think tank.

What are we looking for?

This role is for you if you are currently studying towards a degree in physics, engineering, mathematics or a related subject to a minimum of a 2:2 and have an interest in the lifecycle of products.

It would also suit someone that enjoys solving challenging problems with innovative ideas, working with people from different disciplines/backgrounds and that wants a job where every day is different.
