The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Experimental Particle Physics to begin in winter semester 2020/2021. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
Scientific environment 
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Physics and to the ORIGINS cluster. Possible research directions include high‐energy collider and/or fixed target experiments related to hadron physics, hidden particle search, astroparticle physics and/or lepton physics at the intensity frontier.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of experimental particle physics with a focus on Fundamental Particles and Forces and the Cosmos or Cosmic Accelerators. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs of the TUM. In the master program in physics, the focus will be on teaching in the core research area of nuclear, particle and astrophysics.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
