About the Faculty of Science
Physics is one of the eight departments of the faculty.

About the physics department
The physics department has more than 80 faculty members and teaching staff supported by more than 25 executive and administrative staff. It offers BSc programmes with major or second major in physics. The department also runs MSc programmes by coursework and by research, and a PhD programme.

The research interests of faculty members cover all major areas of physics, and the department has fared well in recent QS rankings. Research activities of the department of physics cover many areas, in particular, in the physics at nanoscale, advanced functional materials, biophysics, nonlinear and complex systems, atomic and molecular physics, nonlinear optics, graphene and quantum physics, as well as theoretical physics. The department is affiliated with major research facilities at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, NUS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute, Centre for Ion Beam Applications, Centre for Advanced 2D Materials and the Singapore Synchrotron Light Source.

About the Headship 
We are seeking a distinguished candidate to be appointed as tenured full Professor and Head of Department. The candidate must have demonstrated leadership and management experience in senior positions in a major university and be a world-class researcher in an active area of physics. He/she should have the ability, vision and commitment to lead the department to be among the world’s best.
