The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology in Dortmund is part of the Max Planck Society and has a focus on biomedical basic research. Approximately 500 employees from more than 30 nations are working in this institute.

The Department of Systemic Cell Biology (Prof. Dr Bastiaens) at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund is offering a Postdoctoral Position (Physicist/Microscopy Development) to develop a lattice sheet microscope that enable multi-parametric molecular imaging of reaction states in signalling networks of individual cells in tissue-like 3D cell assemblies. The postdoc will work closely with other physicists and cell biologists in an interdisciplinary team towards using microspectroscopic approaches to study how tumorigenesis arises from oncoprotein induced changes in the dynamical state of signalling proteomes, with the aim of uncovering new pharmacological avenues of interference with cancer development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive and creative team player with a degree in physics and a PhD that encompassed the development of optical instrumentation for quantitative molecular imaging.

The position is available immediately and is limited to three years initially with the possibility of prolongation.

The Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals.

The Max Planck Society strives for gender equality and diversity within its workforce.

Furthermore, the Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

We are looking forward to receive your application. Please e-mail your application to the scientific coordinator of the department, Dr Astrid Krämer in digital form (e.g. as PDF). In your application, include a cover letter also stating your salary requirements, a recent CV, and copies of your certificates and two names of reference. Please submit all documents in a single application until 23 August 2020.
