Put your physics degree to use!

Do you want a rewarding job that puts your physics degree to use? We are looking for a graduate to join our small but highly skilled team at QMC Instruments.

We can offer you variety and the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of the design, development, manufacturing, testing and commissioning of novel scientific instrumentation. As part of a small company you will have a chance to make an impact from the start.

In return we need you to be happy working as part of a team (within the company as well as with our academic colleagues and our customers) and to be comfortable with demanding work, often to deadlines. You will need to quickly take on significant responsibility for your work.

We focus on technologies for detection and analysis of Terahertz radiation – the “last frontier” in the electromagnetic spectrum – which are used by the world science and research community.

Operating at temperatures down to 300 milliKelvin, our products (many of which are unique) are in use all around the planet and indeed beyond, and are often bespoke products designed in collaboration with customers in universities and research labs. Our business is over 40 years old and we work in close collaboration with a world-leading university research group.

You will need a degree-level or higher qualification in a physical science. You may not have direct experience of our branch of science, although we would love to hear from you if you do, but the most important things we are looking for are enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

We are offering a starting salary of up to £40k (depending on your skills and experience) with pension contribution.  This is a full-time and permanent position for a candidate proving themselves within a probationary period of 6 months.

The position is based in our premises in Cardiff University, but we may need you to travel within the UK and further afield to visit customers (once this is possible again).

Take a look at what we do: www.qmcinstruments.co.uk.

If you want to apply or would just like more information, please email qmc@terahertz.co.uk.
