We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Information Analyst to join our Insights team based out of our Bristol office. The MI Analyst will provide an information service for IOP Publishing to inform and enable key decision makers to answer business questions. They collect customer requirements and deliver value by producing high-quality reporting and analysis to support these needs. The role will involve management and development of IOP’s suite of regular reporting, reviewing and understanding how the reports are used within the business, improving and building upon existing output to ensure they provide clear, value adding information in an engaging format. The job holder will ensure delivery is clear and focussed on meeting the brief that has been set and be responsible for identifying and raising data issues with the IM team, ensuring these are prioritised in line with business requirements.

About you

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience in a reporting / analysis role.
  • Experience of line management would be beneficial.
  • An Information Professional experienced in using BI applications.
  • Good commercial awareness, particularly around principles of good performance reporting.
  • Experience of working for a number of competing stakeholders and managing priorities accordingly.
  • Advanced user of Business Intelligence applications and skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulae, V-look-ups).
  • Knowledge of Power BI would be beneficial.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex quantitative data outputs to stakeholders across the business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach is essential, willing and able to push ideas for reporting back to business users.
  • Focus on delivery – able to take a pragmatic approach to balance the need for information within time and data constraints whilst satisfying customer requirements.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise their own workload.
  • Thorough and methodical, with excellent attention to detail.
