The engineer will become a member of the Department of Electronics Development at DESY in Zeuthen. As a service provider the department is developing specialized electronic (Hardware, Firmware and Software) for experiments in particle accelerators, astroparticles and particle physics. These electronic devices are used for data aquisition and processing of scientific data from experiments worldwide and at DESY, for instance the Photo Injector Teststand Zeuthen (PITZ).

The position

  • Development of electronic analog and digital circuits.
  • Conceptual design of complex electrical systems, devices and assemblies.
  • Contribute to the development of complex electronic systems and facilities for accelerator, astroparticle and particle physics projects.
  • Implementation, operation, testing and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
  • Documentation, publication and presentation of work results.


  • Master degree in information technology or electrical engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Profound expertise in the design and simulation of analog circuits; expertise in digital circuit design is an advantage.
  • Profound knowledge in electronic instrumentation and analog systems.
  • Experience with ECAD systems and electronic schematic design; expertise with firmware programming of FPGAs is an advantage.
  • Expertise in C/C++ programming and automation technology is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of English and German (spoken and written).
