AegiQ is on a mission to radically change data communications both in space and on the ground and make our world more secure using quantum technologies. Recently spun out from The University of Sheffield and backed by leading venture capital funds, we are currently recruiting a cross-disciplinary product development team.

Our technology comes from over two decades of research at The University of Sheffield and the Sheffield Quantum Centre, which is also the home of the National Epitaxy Facility (for III-V semiconductors) and is a centre of excellence in nano- and semiconductor technology. We are developing high-performance photonic systems for applications in quantum security, next generation imaging and quantum information processing

The successful candidate will join a vibrant start-up at an early stage of the company’s development and can professionally develop in tandem with the growth of the business.

The role

As a delivery lead you have responsibility for the delivery of AegiQ’s product development activities. This includes responsibility for the project governance of AegiQ’s activities in Innovate UK funded projects working with over 20 industrial partners and customers developing quantum photonic technologies for applications across cybersecurity, imaging, and quantum computing. You will work closely with the product development team to ensure timely and on-cost delivery of projects, both internally and externally facing.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project governance in the product development team.
  • Management of projects including project planning, financial reporting, risk management, resource, and team management.
  • Progress reporting to the senior management team.
  • Management of relationships with contractors.
  • Scoping and delivering new projects with customers and collaborators.
  • Grant funding applications for securing new opportunities for the company.

Requirements

We are looking for a broad skill set across photonics and do not expect candidates to be experienced in all areas.

  • Numerate degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Start-up experience.
  • 3+ years project management experience in an engineering environment.
  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM PMQ, Agile Project Management methodologies).
  • Proven record of project delivery and experience of Government or Research Council funded projects.
  • Experience in photonic or optical system development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with exceptional organisational skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
