We are currently recruiting for a communications manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis to help us develop and drive both internal and external communications. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and creative communications all-rounder to join our growing communications team.

Working with the head of marketing communications, the post holder will develop measurable, high-quality communications plans, create engaging and informative content and deliver innovative employee communications strategies and tactics.

With responsibility for building brand recognition and positioning IOP Publishing as a thought leader, along with customising how we communicate with employees, this is a broad scope role. The post holder will be instrumental in helping to shape and develop a communications strategy that spans print, digital, earned media and social media.  

Key job accountabilities include

  • Define, develop and manage PR strategy to raise IOP Publishing’s profile, enhance its reputation and connect with external stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain and leverage relations with journalists from national, specialist and trade publications.
  • Oversee the delivery of the internal communications strategy and ensure organisational strategy, initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees.
  • Oversee the organisation’s brand identity and ensure consistency across multiple products and services.
  • Develop content, look and feel of the company website.
  • Work globally, and cross-functionally to plan and implement communication activities.
  • Manage and supervise the Studio and Communications teams.
  • Monitor and track spend within the Communications budget.
  • Instil a culture of continuous improvement within the team to optimise success.

About you

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of communications and brand management in a digital environment.
  • Proven track record in PR implementation.
  • Experience of people management.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms.
  • Extensive media relations experience.
  • Experience of ensuring brand consistency.
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and networking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.
