Job description

We are currently recruiting for a communications manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis to help us develop and drive both internal and external communications. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and creative communications all-rounder to join our growing communications team.

Working with the head of marketing communications, the post holder will develop measurable, high-quality communications plans, create engaging and informative content and deliver innovative employee communications strategies and tactics.

With responsibility for building brand recognition and positioning IOP Publishing as a thought leader, along with customising how we communicate with employees, this is a broad scope role. The post holder will be instrumental in helping to shape and develop a communications strategy that spans print, digital, earned media and social media.  

Due to COVID-19, IOP Publishing are currently working from home. 

Key job accountabilities include

  • Define, develop and manage PR strategy to raise IOP Publishing’s profile, enhance its reputation and connect with external stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain and leverage relations with journalists from national, specialist and trade publications Oversee the delivery of the internal communications strategy and ensure organisational strategy, initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees
  • Oversee the organisation’s brand identity and ensure consistency across multiple products and services
  • Develop content, look and feel of the company website
  • Work globally, and cross-functionally to plan and implement communication activities
  • Manage and supervise the Studio and Communications teams
  • Monitor and track spend within the Communications budget
  • Instil a culture of continuous improvement within the team to optimise success

About you

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of communications and brand management in a digital environment.
  • Proven track record in PR implementation.
  • Experience of people management.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms.
  • Extensive media relations experience.
  • Experience of ensuring brand consistency.
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and networking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.
