We have an exciting new opportunity for a highly motivated and commercially minded Commissioning Editor to join our growing conference proceedings journals team at IOP Publishing.

Reporting to the Senior Publisher, you will be responsible for winning new business and providing an excellent level of service to our existing customers. You will identify target conferences within IOP’s subject remit and develop networks with organizers and scientific committee members to grow IOP’s market share in conference publishing. You will be responsible for assessing new publication requests, determining their suitability for the programme. Working closely with the Conference Series Operations team and colleagues in the production department, you will build and maintain excellent working relationships with customers to ensure the timely publication of their proceeding volumes.

We are looking for a candidate with a proven experience of acquiring content and a strong track record of achieving targets.

About you

Essential

  • A degree-level education.
  • Significant experience in STM publishing.
  • A focus on maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • A results-orientated mindset and a record of achieving targets.
  • Proven ability to manage publishing products from initiation through to launch.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel: regular national and international travel for conferences, university campus visits and other meetings.

Desired

  • A first (BSc or BA) or second degree (PhD or MSc) in a scientific subject.
  • Proven experience in working with publishing partners.
