The Institute for Theoretical Physics, in the Faculty of Physics at the University of Münster, Germany, invites applications for an Assistant Professorship  in Theoretical Physics – Elementary Particle Theory – (full-time, W1 with tenure track to W2) to be filled as soon as possible.

The initial appointment will be for three years. Upon a positive evaluation, it will be extended for another three years. A second positive evaluation will lead to a permanent W2 professorship. The successful candidate shall be an international expert in elementary particle theory and extend the existing research areas in particle physics in a meaningful way. Close collaboration with the other theoretical and experimental research groups active in the DFG-funded research training group Strong and Weak Interactions – From Hadrons to Dark Matter is expected. Research experience in lattice gauge theory is an advantage.

The future professor will teach theoretical physics at all levels and take part in academic self-governance. Prerequisites for the appointment are a relevant university degree and doctoral degree, and demonstrated pedagogical suitability. Further research experience such as a postdoc at a German or international university or research institute, are an advantage. The University of Münster is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the proportion of women academics. Consequently, we actively encourage applications by women. Female candidates with equivalent qualifi cations and academic achievements will be preferentially considered within the framework of the legal possibilities. We also welcome applications from candidates with severe disabilities. Disabled candidates with equivalent qualifi cations will be preferentially considered.

Please submit your application with the usual documents (curriculum vitae, certifi cates, list of publications, teaching record, research concept) as a single PDF file by 10 July 2020 to: Dekan des Fachbereichs Physik Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Wilhelm-Klemm-Str. 9 48149 Münster Germany
