The accelerator division has as its mission the design and operation of cutting-edge accelerator facilities as well as accelerator R&D. PETRA IV is the planned new synchrotron radiation facility which is currently in the technical design phase. The goal of the project is to replace the 2.3 km long PETRA III storage ring with a new ultra-low emittance ring based on multi-bend achromat technology.
About the role
- Take part in the design of the PETRA IV storage ring and injector complex.
- Perform beam studies at the existing PETRA III facility and contribute to preparation of commissioning and operation of PETRA IV.

To be successful in this role
- PhD in physics or engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of accelerator physics and technology.
- Experience in design or operation of storage rings or other accelerator facilities.
- Experience with beam dynamics software (such as mad-x, elegant, AT, opa, ocelot, etc.).
- Ability to work in team and good communication skills.
