Nusano has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer
at our Valencia, CA facility. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Engineer is to serve as the primary interface between Nusano’s technical staff and the design/build firm hired to develop the production facility based on a linear particle accelerator. This position will gather requirements from the relevant stakeholders, and craft them into specification in industry standard formats. This position will review and assist with all designs proposed by the design/build firm, with particular attention to the process chilled water and AC power systems. The Linac is a megawatt class device, and requires extensive support infrastructure to operate reliably. This position will also develop the Building Information Model and interface with the controls engineers as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather requirements, specify, assist with the design, and routing of the following systems:
- AC power and generator backup;
- Process chilled water;
Monitor installation of the systems stated above;
Act as primary point of interface between Nusano and the design/build firm’s engineers;
Develop the Building Information Model;
Generate P&IDs and other engineering documentation;
Help specify and procure facility infrastructure, e.g., bridge crane, storage racks;
Support installation and commissioning of all systems.
Progress updates in MS Project schedule;
Assist in preparing periodic Project Status Reports;
Conduct project reviews to monitor progress and quality standards, including daily site/project walks to ensure proper safety and security are in place;
Ensure project compliance with safety regulations and building codes;
Data entry of equipment information in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including, but not limited to, manufacturer, cut sheets, manuals, maintenance schedules, spare parts, etc.;
Technical lead of facility management program for equipment, maintenance, site services, etc.;
On-going Work Order management.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Design and engineering of HVAC and industrial power;
- Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors and consultants;
- Project planning and control;
- Highly organized;
- CAD and other engineering design tools;
- Proficient with MS Project;
- More than 5 years in similar position;
- Work in a highly technical facility.
- Minimum of BS or BA in engineering, construction management, or similar field.
- Must be able to lift, push and/or pull a maximum 50 pounds;
- Work will be conducted in an office and the engineering lab;
- Reach up to 6′ with the use of a ladder as needed.
