Theory of Quantum Matter-group at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences carries out research in condensed matter theory focusing on topological matter. We have an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who supports our activities on topics specified below.

Job description

The successful candidate will carry out theoretical research on topological matter. The possible topics include, but are not restricted to theory of topological states in random geometry, topological phase transitions in amorphous systems, theoretical aspects of Weyl semimetals and quantum transport calculations in topological structures. The research is carried out as part of Theory of Quantum Matter- group and is expected to support local activities.


The successful candidate should have PhD in physics, excellent analytical skills and broad knowledge on quantum condensed matter physics. Working knowledge on topological matter is strongly preferred. Excellent computational skills or specialized theoretical techniques is regarded an advantage. The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English.

We offer

The position will be filled for a fixed-term period of 2 years. The planned starting date is on 1 January 2020 or as mutually agreed. A trial period of six (6) months applies to all our new employees.

The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. A typical starting salary of Postdoctoral Research Fellow is around 3300 - 3500 EUR/month
