The Department of Physics at the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia), one of Latin America´s top universities, seeks to fill a position for a teaching postdoctoral researcher.
The selected candidate will serve as full-time postdoctoral associates, starting ideally in early January, 2019. Applicants must have a Ph.D. before the starting date, with research experience and strong background in biophysics, applied mathematics or molecular biology. Applicants must teach a lower undergraduate-level physics course each semester (in Spanish or English), and as such it is highly desirable they have a physics degree at the undergraduate or graduate level. The candidates should have an interest in working in one of the following areas: Systems biology, stochastic processes, evolutionary game theory, microscopy, adhesion biomechanics, low-cost instrumentation, membrane biophysics or biofilms.
Spanish fluency is not required. The candidate must have received his/her doctoral degree at most ten years prior to application date. A minimum of two medium or high impact indexed publications are required. The teaching postdoc position is guaranteed for the first year, renewable for a second year depending on results and available funding. Selected candidates should also be willing to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
