The Department of Physics offers a Master of Science degree in Physics and a Ph.D. degree via its participation in the interdisciplinary Earth and Energy Sciences doctoral program. Teaching and research assistantships are available.

M.S. The program is designed to prepare students for advanced graduate education or to assist them in gaining the skills needed for new productive careers. We are a diverse and vibrant department where students work closely with faculty on research projects, which enables direct feedback. The outcomes of the research projects are expected to lead to professional publications and presentations. The specialization areas available are: atmospheric acoustics; solid-state acoustics; underwater acoustics and acoustic ecology; cosmochemistry; geophysics; ion-beam accelerators with applications in materials science and biology; nanomagnetism; planetary science; and sensor physics. Qualifications and skills: Admission into the program requires an undergraduate degree in science or engineering with a strong preparation in physics and mathematics. How to apply: Graduate admission requirements and deadlines can be found at https://gradschool.louisiana.edu/graduate-programs/masters-degrees/msphysics.
Evaluation of applications is continuous, with assistantship offer decisions being made by March 2020.
