About the Role
An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a skilled and experienced physicist to take up the key role of Head of the Accelerator Physics Group.
You will be responsible for the accelerator physics aspects of the operation, near-term and long-term development of the Diamond accelerators. In particular, you will lead the accelerator physics studies for a major upgrade of the Diamond lattice (Diamond-II).
You will manage the Accelerator Physics Group, maintain a vigorous accelerator physics research programme, keep up to date with world-wide developments, and promote collaborations with other laboratories as appropriate.
A flexible approach to working hours is required along with occasional UK and overseas travel.
You should hold a PhD in a relevant branch of physics and have a high degree of mathematical and computational ability.
You will have significant experience of working in the field of particle accelerators, preferably light sources.
You will have experience of staff management, with the ability to direct and motivate staff.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
