The Physics Division at AWE carries out world-class scientific research in some of the most challenging and exciting fields of science. These include, but are not limited to, research into material physics, high strain-rate material deformation, high explosive detonation, hydrodynamics, radiation physics, plasma physics, high energy density physics, laser physics, technology development, theoretical physics, computational modelling, high performance computing, complex systems and operational analysis, geophysics and nuclear physics.
