We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Assistant to join our Publishing team in central Bristol.
An opportunity has arisen for an organised and efficient team player to join IOP’s high performing Conference Proceedings team. A crucial contributor to the administration of the publishing process, the successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that will ensure the smooth running of our proceedings journals whilst maintaining an excellent level of customer service for our conference organisers and authors. The Editorial Assistant will work closely with other members of the Publishing team as well as Production colleagues to facilitate the capture of new business and the timely publication of new proceedings content.
Happy to work independently as well as within a team, you’ll be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills be adaptable and quick to learn. With a proactive approach to work, you’ll have an eye for detail in order to work to very high standards of accuracy when managing written correspondence.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
- A good general education, ideally degree educated or equivalent
- Previous experience in customer service will be an advantage
- Previous experience of an administrative/office environment will be an advantage
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail, with ability to learn new computer skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent organisational, time and task management skills; methodical in approach
No prior knowledge of physics or publishing is necessary for this role, and full training will be provided.
