Applications are invited for the post of Data Acquisition Engineer in the electronics group with an emphasis on Control and Data Acquisition for accelerator science and technology.
The post is open ended externally funded, subject to the successful completion of the standard probation period of 1 year.
The post will principally support projects within the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science.
The post holder is highly skilled at DAQ, Controls, FPGA electronics design, prototyping, testing and analysis. Designs typically include the processing of high-speed data and high volumes of data as well as controlling processes. The person is able to lead and is comfortable with sharing knowledge.
Applicants should possess a degree in electronics engineering or closely related subject. They should have a strong background in Data Acquisition and Control system design with a sound knowledge of large programmable Devices (e.g. FPGAs).
Candidates are expected to demonstrate that they can lead and manage projects from feasibility and conceptual design through to manufacture, final assembly, testing and commissioning.
Previous experience in a scientific research environment, especially with particle accelerators and beamlines, will be an advantage.
