Job ref: N/A

Location: Mol
  •     master’s diploma in Engineering Sciences (MSc)
  •     experience as System Integrator
  •     an important role in a ‘one of a kind’ project
  •     technically challenging

Will you make the technical puzzle fit?

SCK•CEN wants to engage a building and system integrator within its Nuclear Facilities team, which is responsible for designing the conventional systems (a/o buildings, process, HVAC, electricity, fire safety, security...) of the 100 MeV accelerator, the proton target system and the target fusion station, jointly constituting the MINERVA project, which, in turn, is the first phase of the MYRRHA project.

The Nuclear Facilities team is largely responsible for preparing the conceptual design of the buildings and conventional systems, managing the respective scope of the project, following up on the activities of an external design office that will work out the following phases of the design, and the integration of all systems in the respective buildings.

Your tasks as integrator are making yourself acquainted with:
  • the current design of the buildings and conventional systems in MINERVA
  • the already established project requirements, from the highest level down to component level
  • the interfaces between the different systems and their functional requirements
  • with the nuclear safety approach and requirements
  • translating the general requirements into requirements on building, system and component level and gearing these requirements to one coherent and functional whole
  • translating the safety and security requirements to the building, system and component level in consultation with the safety and security officer
  • defining and managing the interfaces between the various buildings and systems, including the accelerator, proton and fusion target systems
  • the physical integration of the various conventional systems with one another; integrating these systems into the buildings along with the integration of the accelerator, proton target and fusion target systems.  This physical integration will be based on a 3D data model
  • the continuous monitoring of the 3D model to ensure the integration from the earliest design stages up to and including the delivery of buildings and systems
  • managing the engineering team in terms of system integration (collecting the necessary information in a timely manner, giving feedback to the persons involved, bringing together the necessary engineers to sort out outstanding issues, ...)
  • leading the integration meetings
  • supplying the necessary information to engineering offices
  • following up the works of these external engineering offices
  • taking the necessary design decisions in consultation with the technical manager, the safety and security officer and the Nuclear Facilities team
  • following up the construction phase of MINERVA
To join this frontier, you'll need
  • master’s diploma in Engineering Sciences
  • at least 10 years of experience in designing (parts of) major projects
  • at least 10 years of experience in the integration of various complex systems in buildings
  • knowledge of and experience with management systems for project and system requirements is required
  • knowledge of and experience with BIM, 3D data models, PLM and PTC CREO are important assets
  • knowledge of nuclear energy applications and, in particular accelerators, is a bonus
  • experience with public procurement is an additional advantage
  • being able to work autonomously
  • good communication skills to work in an international and multidisciplinary team and to work together with external parties
  • good knowledge of IT applications
  • fluent in English, and, Dutch or French
