Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities
. The University draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting
enables students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties.
ASSISTANT PROFESSORSHIP FOR EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS WITH A FOCUS ON NON-EQUILIBRIUM PHENOMENA AT INTERFACES (W1) WITH TENURE TRACK (W2)
The Department of Physics and Astronomy
at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, invites applications for the position of an Assistant professorship for experimental physics with a focus on non-equilibrium phenomena at interfaces (W1) with Tenure Track (W2)
to start as soon as possible.
The candidate is expected to establish a sustainable research program in experimental physics of interface phenomena based on her/his expertise in spectroscopy methods of these interfaces. The professorship is connected to the topics of the CRC 1316 “Transient atmospheric plasmas: from plasmas to liquids to solids” (www.sfb1316.rub.de). A further connection is possible to the CRC-TR 87 “High performance plasmas for the synthesis of nanostructured thin films” (www.sfbtr87.de). A connection to the research department “Plasmas with complex interactions” is desired.
Teaching in experimental physics at the undergraduate and graduate level is required. Contributions to the master course “medical physics” are appreciated.
An excellent dissertation ideally in physics, which should not be more than 5 years ago, is required.
Furthermore is expected:
- strong commitment to academic teaching at graduate and undergraduate level;
- readiness to participate in interdisciplinary research;
- willingness and ability to attract external funding;
- Commitment to academic self-administration and engagement in the field of public relations and promotion of young researchers.
Ruhr-Universität Bochum is an equal opportunity employer.
Complete applications including CV, copies of academic certificates, list of publications, list of experiences in acquiring third-party funding, a teaching record and concept, as well as a statement regarding future research and teaching activities, are requested by 15.11.2019
to the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, 44780 Bochum, Germany
. Applications should be sent in electronic form in one pdf-file to: firstname.lastname@example.org
