The detector group at Diamond is looking for a Post Doctoral Research Associate to work in the characterization and optimization of the operation of the Timepix3 read out chip that is used for time resolved experiments at Diamond.
You will join a highly dynamic group working at the cutting edge of detector technology.
You will carry out the characterisation, calibration, and exercise of the Tristan detector based on the Timepix3 chip. This is necessary for the validation of the data provided by the detector systems and for understanding the characteristics that can lead to further improvements of Tristan. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with the development team of Tristan and with the beamline scientists that uses the detector and may entail the use of simulation tools as well as specific detector tests carried out with the synchrotron beam and with the X-ray set. You may be involved in the work related to the further development of the Tristan system.
The availability of a test beamline at Diamond allows the detector group to evaluate the performance of innovating detector technologies and their application to synchrotron X-ray experiments. Close cooperation with the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory enables access to other world-class facilities as well as the interaction with world-leading detector developers.
