Why study with us

NTEC provides flexible postgraduate nuclear science and technology education, in both directly taught and distance-learning formats, to meet the UK’s nuclear skills requirements in reactor operation, new build, decommissioning and clean-up. Course accreditation is provided by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Energy Institute, and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. The NTEC programme is also the first nuclear Master’s to be endorsed by the Nuclear Institute.

Training and development

Graduates can expect to progress to a career within the nuclear industry with many of our full-time students receiving job offers before they have completed their MSc. 62.7% of our full-time students go into a career within the nuclear industry, with 19.5% progressing to further nuclear research. The course format allows students to complete the MSc over three years (part-time) or as a one-year, full-time student with all units being delivered by renowned leading academics and industry experts.

What we are looking for

Applicants straight from university will be required to have at least a 2.2 degree in a relevant discipline. For applicants with some years’ industrial experience, a lesser qualification may be acceptable. We encourage applications from potential students with a background in aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science, materials, mechanical engineering and physics.
