Training and development
The programme focuses on: the nuclear cycle; nuclear reactor materials and design; nuclear structural integrity; nuclear professionalism and nuclear systems; infrastructure, hazards and risk.
Teaching consists of core lecture-based units in science and engineering:
- Fundamentals of nuclear science
- Nuclear reactor engineering
- Nuclear material behaviour
- Nuclear reactor physics
- Nuclear fuel cycle
The Research Skills and Group Project units help students to develop the skills needed to work in this area, including industry-focused workshops, an industry-set challenge and a major individual research project. Students also receive timely and up-to-date information on graduate schemes and career opportunities that are open to them in the nuclear sector.
What we are looking for
We are looking for candidates with an upper second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in engineering, physics or a related subject. Alternative relevant professional experience or qualifications may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
