MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.

MAX IV is currently in the process of building several experimental stations. The project portfolio at the facility currently contains more than 100 separate projects or subprojects either waiting to be initiated or running in various phases and degrees of resource use. We are now looking for a Project Manager for the Central Project Office to manage projects and participate in the mission of the project office including governing the project portfolio , developing the project knowledge of project managers and other staff members at MAX IV and defining and implementing project processes across the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects at MAX IV.
  • Project coordination within the MAX IV Project portfolio.
  • Define deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor project progress.
  • Regularly communicate all aspects of project management necessary for meeting project goals to all stakeholders.
  • Maintain Lessons learned & risk sessions.
  • Create and maintain project documentation.
  • Participate in the forward planning of the MAX IV Portfolio.
  • Provide MAX IV with Project process guidance and Project training.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with great project management skills and several years of proven track record of managing large and complex projects at a major laboratory, scientific facility, or industrial facility.

  • Extensive experience managing a large and diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to details and multi-tasking skills.

Desirable

  • PMP/Prince certification.
  • Project manager/Product owner experience within agile project processes.
  • Experience from work at larger science facilities.

As a person you are performance oriented – setting high goals for yourself and others. You will need to have a talent for leading and motivating others, creating commitment and participation to enable MAX IV to reach its goals. You will report to the manager of the Central Project Office.
