On behalf of the State of Bavaria, the Technische Universität München operates the high flux Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) located at the leading scientific campus in Garching, Germany.

We invite applications for a

Scientist
in the Detector and Electronics Group
The detector team actively participates in a Joint European Research Activity dedicated to the development of new neutron detector technologies (http://detectors.neutron-eu.net/Detectors) based on Gaseous Scintillation Proportional Counters (GSPC). These devices have interesting potential in improving the performance of high position resolution neutron detectors.

Description of position:
Working within the detector team the position comprises the performance of measurements with test devices at a test beam station, the investigation of different type of PMT based light detecting devices, signal analysis and processing and the study of related readout electronics. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the group’s contribution to the Joint Research Activity.

Qualification and Experience:
You have a degree in physics or engineering in related fields. Preferably, you have good knowledge in analog and/or digital readout electronics and signal processing of photomultiplier tube based light detecting devices. Experience in the performance of scintillation detectors for particle detection is advantageous. You have good ability to perform independently practical and technical work. Strong communication skills and ability to team work in an international collaboration are required. Good oral and written English skills are expected.

The appointment is initially limited to the funding period to two years. The payment is based on the German pay scale TV-L. The Technische Universität München is an equal opportunity employer.
