A multi-award winning technology company have a new vacancy for a highly mathematical Physicist with a background in optics and data science, at their state-of-the-art R&D facility based in the north-west of England.
Working with the New Technologies team the Physicist (or Mathematician ) will develop a deep understanding of optical characterisation of orientated films. This will include principles of birefringence and optical polarisation as well as a basic understanding of micro-electronics in order to develop ground-breaking new security technologies for a range of national and international customers.
The Physicist / Mathematician will lead scientific projects and nurture strategic technology partnerships with external partners in order to further the advancements of the company's successful technology portfolio.

To be considered for the role of Physicist / Mathematician you need the following:
- A Degree Masters or above (Doctorate/ PhD / EngD / Dphil) in Physics, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics or similar highly numerate degree.
- Analysing a complex system from first principles
- Data Analysis
- Statistics and statistical analysis
- Python / Matlab / C#, C++ , C or another programing language
Knowledge / Experience of the following would be highly desirable:
- Machine Learning
- Data Visualisation
- Image analysis
