The Department of Physics at the University of Guelph invites applications for a faculty position in physics at the Assistant Professor level. This is a tenure-track appointment, and we are specifically seeking candidates that will focus on teaching within the Physics Department at all levels. The Department of Physics currently has 17 faculty members and offers strong undergraduate and graduate programs to the Ph.D. level. The graduate and research programs are enhanced by participation in the Guelph-Waterloo Physics Institute (GWPI) and the Biophysics Interdepartmental Group (BIG). Guelph faculty members collaborate at many off-campus research facilities including the Canadian Light Source, Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and TRIUMF. Experimental and theoretical research areas include astrophysics and gravitation, biophysics and medical physics, condensed matter physics and material nanoscience, physics education research, planetary surface exploration, and subatomic physics. Additional information about the Department is available at www.physics.uoguelph.ca.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in physics, and will have demonstrated exceptional strength in teaching. The candidate may teach up to six physics courses per year at both graduate and undergraduate levels, along with significant involvement in undergraduate program development or laboratory development and some administrative duties. The research and scholarly activities of the candidate should enhance and complement those already established within the Department. To apply, submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier, statement of research interests, publications list, and names and addresses of three professional references to:
