TTP’s reputation for excellence in technology and product development means we are routinely invited to realise our clients’ most ambitious visions. Realising these visions often requires us to develop disruptive or leading technology, or to create innovative products. The impact of our successes typically extends far beyond commercial benefit to TTP and our clients. Our ideas, concepts and technologies have consequence far beyond what might otherwise be expected of an organisation of our size.
We expect all our consultants to be talented, especially from a technical perspective. New joiners can expect huge day-to-day variety in their work, and are usually involved in multiple projects from different industry sectors. Early career development is towards an individual who is technically fluent, has excellent programme and client management skills, and who has good business and commercial awareness. Development is accelerated through a process tailored to the individual, but which typically includes a blend of on-the-job mentoring, bespoke internal courses, and externally provided courses.
TTP has an emphasis on personal responsibility, and on flexibility and freedom. As careers develop, consultants have the opportunity to take on a broad range of internal and external responsibilities, with increasing dynamic range. The flexibility and freedom especially benefits consultants who are self starting, and enables the business to take advantage of opportunities for enterprise. This overall environment provides new challenges and opportunities to suit the long-term career ambitions of even the most ambitious and driven individuals.
The Medical Devices Group has a global reputation for excellence in the development of drug delivery, surgical and diagnostic devices. Working at the cutting edge of technology, we help develop advances in healthcare that have a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
The Medical Devices Group is seeking talented, insightful and ambitious consultant physicists to join the growing team. The successful candidates will take leadership roles in the development of new medical devices by drawing on their insight, analysis, creativity, initiative and drive.
The product development physicist role involves cutting to the core of technical and non-technical issues, discerning what they mean for the project and the company, and then creating something new from that insight. TTP’s culture gives wide freedom to think and act, but also requires and expects it to be used. In this environment, an effective product development physicist leverages their eclectic and growing experience, making time to reflect, to build their capabilities and judgement, and so increasing the value they add and direction they provide to a team.
The Medical Devices Group’s business is based on robust solutions; neither rigorous but inapplicable analysis nor unreliable pragmatism will do. A product development physicist considers problems as they really are and applies technical insight and experience to identify what matters, enabling decision making and guiding design. Expertise in mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechanical and thermal properties of materials are frequently used, as well as an ability to develop experimental or theoretical models of complex processes which strike the right balance between efficiency and fidelity for the purpose and stage of development which they support.
A product development physicist develops practical understanding and experience of the whole prospection, selling, and project delivery process, guiding clients from a outline need, through what to do and how, to a specification, a technology, and so to a product. They develop their ability to form relationships with key stakeholders, and to ascertain and address their needs.
