The Department of Engineering and Design is receiving significant investment and is in the process of appointing 14 new staff, six of whom are now in place, with the remaining eight being advertised.
The Dynamics, Control, and Vehicle Research Group will be appointing lecturers, senior lecturers/readers, and a professor to strengthen the Group’s research, research highly respected by industry and academics.
The current research focus is directed towards efficiency enhancement and CO2 reduction in transport and electrical machines. In particular, through the enhancement of powertrain and vehicle efficiencies, particularly by improving IC engines, and energy management in conventional and hybrid electric vehicles. The Research Group is meeting these challenges through enhanced design, modelling, computation, testing and control.
It is anticipated the person appointed to the position advertised here, Reader/Senior Lecturer in Power Electronics and Control, will strengthen the Group as it tackles this increasing complex and multidisciplinary field.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach primarily in the Department of Engineering and Design, delivering modules in areas such as electromechanics, power electronics, electrical machines, electrical drives and control, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Applications should be accompanied by a full CV and statements of future research plans, and where applicants could contribute to teaching across the School.
Informal enquiries may be addressed either to Dr Julian Dunne, Head of the Dynamics, Control, and Vehicle Research Group J.F.Dunne@sussex.ac.uk; or Professor D J Mynors, Head of School, D.J.Mynors@sussex.ac.uk.
