We are looking for a highly versatile Electronics Engineer with skills covering virtually every area of electronics hardware design and (ideally) software engineering. The job will involve hands-on digital and analogue electronics design (at both systems and circuit level), sensor interfacing, opto-electronics, control systems, communications, signal conditioning, signal processing, servo-mechanisms and embedded software engineering -and maybe even some Physics to go with it.
Better still is the wide array of projects and applications -boredom is never going to be an issue here! You will work on multiple projects, typically 3-6 months duration and covering applications as diverse as consumer electronics, medical/healthcare devices, industrial automation, special purpose machines and seriously high-tech scientific instrumentation -to name but a few!
The job is with arguably the most respected Engineering Design Consultancy in the UK. But, be assured, this is categorically not 'desk-bound' consultancy! This is hands-on design of real world products (many of which you will see in the shops) and solving real-world process and manufacturing problems on behalf of some very well-known client companies.
The standards are high -they only recruit the brightest and best Engineers and Scientists so you'll need a good degree ( minimum of a 2.1) in Electronics Engineering, Applied Physics or similar, from a Russell Group University ( or equivalent internationally ranked institution) together with at least two years of post-graduate experience .
You'll also need skills in several of the following:
- Sensor technologies
- Control systems
- Wired and wireless communications
- Power management and batteries
- User interface devices
- Design of electronics for manufacture, test, (DFM, DFT), EMC and safety
- Embedded software
- Development of electronic products from concept to volume manufacture.
- Systems engineering
- Life sciences
- Project Management
You will also be in regular contact with customers so you'll need to be personable, have excellent communication skills and have a degree of commercial awareness.
In return you can expect job satisfaction, an excellent salary & benefits package plus excellent long-term career progression with on-going training and personal development.
