The School of Science and Technology is an exciting multi-disciplinary environment for learning, teaching and research. Our portfolio of undergraduate courses covers the School’s core disciplines of Physics, Mathematics, Biosciences, Chemistry, Forensics, Sport Science, Computing and Technology. Our research – which includes Materials and Imaging in the Engineering Research Unit – is multi-disciplinary and was highly rated in RAE2008; in our teaching and research we aim to be exciting, innovative and relevant.
We are seeking to appoint a physicist with excellent communication and presentation skills to undertake teaching and associated duties on undergraduate programmes in Physics and related subjects. The work could involve, for example, undertaking lectures, seminars, laboratory and tutorial classes in a selection of the following areas: condensed matter and solid state physics; special and general relativity; topics in advanced experimental physics, including lasers; introductory topics in Physics, including waves; mathematical techniques for Physics students; signal and image processing for Forensic applications. For a suitably qualified appointee, there will be the opportunity to assist in supporting the activities of the University’s Materials Strategic Research Platform.
This opportunity arises from significant investment in Physics and Materials research activity, which is supporting sabbatical periods for core staff. This is one of a series of posts that are fixed term for periods of up to ten months.
