About the role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic Programme Manager to join one of Europe’s largest multidisciplinary research organisations.
STFC funds research in particle and nuclear physics, astronomy and space science, manages UK membership of international science organisations including the European particle physics laboratory CERN and the European Southern Observatory (ESO), and operates large research facilities in Oxfordshire, Cheshire, Scotland and Hampshire with a significant focus on new R&D in cutting edge technologies and engineering. Our research portfolio is broad, far-reaching and has a substantial focus on helping drive economic growth across the UK – and each year helps inspire thousands of younger people to continue or further studies in STEM areas.
Reporting to the Head of Impact Evaluation, you will play a key role in helping to demonstrate the direct and indirect economic, societal and international benefits flowing to the UK from past and current investments in research.
The impact agenda is a key issue in public sector research and continues to be high on the Government’s agenda. Delivery of key impact projects over the spending review period is of significant importance to STFC and our capabilities in this area will continue to be a critical factor in attracting Government funding and developing the organisation’s capabilities in this important area.
You will be expected to exercise appropriate responsibility in making strategic decisions, committing resources and implementing processes that align with STFC strategic objectives.
You’ll be educated to degree level, a scientific or economics degree would be an advantage, have a good understanding of the impact agenda, Government and the role of Research Councils within the UK science base. Proven experience of operating in an impact, scientific or scientific support role is also essential.
