The nanotechnology center NanoSYD at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a postdoc position within the field of organic thin-film devices. The position is available as of April 1, 2014 for a two-year period.
The position is related to the newly initiated Research Cluster on Organic Device Stability, which includes research groups from three different departments of SDU in addition to a number of international research groups (universities of Hamburg, Paris, Bonn, Graz, and Freiburg) and a company partner.
The overall focus of the research cluster is to develop large-scale light-emitting transistors and solar cells based on organic thin-films with particular focus on the study of the degradation processes that reduce the device lifetime.
The topic of this postdoc position is ambipolar light-emitting transistors. The postdoc is expected to take the lead in developing and optimizing the fabrication processes, which include transistor substrate fabrication via lithographic patterning of electrodes, organic thin-film deposition via evaporation, and encapsulation, followed by characterization of electrical transport properties, spectroscopic studies of transport barriers, power conversion efficiency, and device lifetime.
In addition, the postdoc will work in close collaboration with other researchers focusing on device modeling and on optical characterization of the degradation processes via ultrafast spectroscopic and microscopic techniques.
We offer a challenging position in an international and stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure for organic device fabrication and characterization and an excellent opportunity for collaboration both within SDU and with renowned international research groups.
The successful applicant should have:
- A PhD degree (or equivalent) within physics, engineering or a related topic
- A strong background in device physics and organic thin-film device fabrication in particular with ultrahigh-vacuum deposition
- A strong academic record
- Good collaboration and communication skills
- Interest in co-supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students connected to the project
For further information please contact Associate Professor Jakob Kjelstrup-Hansen, phone (+45) 6550 1685, e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
The application must include (as pdf-files):
- A letter motivating the application
- A detailed CV including a complete and numbered list of publications
- PhD diploma
- 2-3 peer-reviewed publications which the candidate considers as most important
